About this Act
The Hurdy Gurdies are a four-piece '60s band whose aim is loud and clear: to blaze through this decade with such energy as to make you feel that you are hearing the music for the very first time. Side one of the set focuses on the songs of the early 60s; side two goes psychedelic, with the flares and far-out shirts to match. Each performance commences with a pre-show buffet of '60s soundtracks and instrumentals, all played over the PA to whet your appetite before the live show begins. The Hurdy Gurdies go on to perform songs by (among others) The Beatles, The Kinks, The Spencer Davis Group, The Shadows, while employing a range of period-appropriate instruments. You can expect to see Hofner basses, harpsichords, djembes, sitars and some silver Telstar drums. The high calibre of musicianship provides ample opportunity to hear some fine solo performances on harmonica, lead guitar, bass and drums. The band also share lead vocals, allowing each musician to grab a piece of the limelight.
The Hurdy Gurdies will take you on a journey through music's most amazing decade, bringing a live, raw edge to so many well known tracks.
