The band is based in Exeter and perform throughout Devon and Cornwall and the rest of the South West of England
The O'Marleys are a four piece Celtic folk band with a superb repertoire of traditional and not so traditional tunes. The band take traditional Irish and Scottish music and add jazz reggae and rock twists that create new vibrant and exciting versions that get an audience on their feet and singing along.
In the rhythm section there is the wild and enigmatic Bodhran playing of Stephan, playing the Irish bodhran and drums. On the top line is premier fiddle player Mackenzie (AKA Mac) Moulton who plunges from Irish set dances into the jazz style of Stephan Grappelli with surprising ease, and when REQUIRED ALSO playes a tune or three on the Highland Bagpipes. At the centre of the band is 12 string guitarist, John Fitzsimons. His playing is a startling combination of cross rhythms/ jazz chords and counter melodies that produce completely original arrangements of the songs. With a background on the London music scene he brings many diverse influences to the band. On banjo is Ioworth Pugh, expertly picking out those fast and furious jigs.
As all four members of the band sing, creating rich vocal patterns and harmonies and the band are as at home raising the roof at weddings, parties, festival or any other type gathering where you want something completely different from the norm.

"We just wanted to say thank you to all the members of The O'Marleys for playing at our wedding on 24/7/21.
You were all so kind and friendly, and played such wonderful music throughout the evening. You were the perfect band for our laid-back, happy summer wedding and it was a pleasure to be able to sit down and listen to your songs. Both us and our guests really enjoyed being able to chill out and soak up the atmosphere with some great music being played. It was really nice to meet you and have a chat whilst we were having our fish and chips too.
"We booked the band for our wedding reception back in October. We are both huge Irish music fans and have had several memorable trips to Ireland so it was especially important to us to have a live Irish band on our big day.
We spend a fair amount of time looking for the "perfect Irish band" and were over the moon to have found the O'Marleys. From the initial enquiry Mac was both friendly and very professional. He instantly made us feel like we had made the right decision and was more than happy to include any special song requests we had. He then made sure they included on the night and that everyone had a great time.
All the band members were lovely and friendly chatting to our guests and fitted in perfectly with our relaxed party atmosphere. Many of our guests have commented on how great they were and we would not hesitate in booking them again in the future or recommending them to others.
"The O'Marleys were the perfect band for my Irish Father-in-law's 80th birthday party. They were so friendly and entertaining and all the guests loved the music. Communication before the event was easy and prompt after booking. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone interested."
