Lucy is based in Brighton and sings in various locations across East and West Sussex, Kent, Hampshire and London.
Lucy Mair is a lyric soprano, with a warm and luscious sound. She has sung in the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Abbey, the Barbican Hall, and on BBC Radio 3. She has had masterclasses with Dame Emma Kirkby and Joan Rodgers and, under the direction of Martin Neary, sang in the world première of John Tavener’s 'They are all gone into the World of Light' in the presence of the composer.
Lucy also gave the UK première of Alain Daniélou’s arrangement of Tagore song-poems.
Her main repertoire is now operatic. She has performed scenes from Così fan Tutte (Fiordiligi), Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira), Peter Grimes (Ellen Orford), Le Nozze di Figaro (Countess) and The Bartered Bride (Mařenka). Lucy also sings the role of Sandman in ‘Singing Salon’s popular site specific performances of Hansel and Gretel, one of which was at Charleston, home of the Bloomsbury Group, and will be singing Pamina in their abridged Magic Flute in Brighton Pavillion.
Lucy is also happy singing lighter classical music, some musical theatre repertoire and jazz.
