The act is based in Aberdeen and Edinburgh equally and frequently play in and around both cities. They are happy to travel anywhere and have musical connections in many areas throughout Scotland.
Vocalist Elaine Crighton has jazz running through her core and has been cultivating a name for herself on the Scottish Jazz scene for years. From her origins in the North East of Scotland she has now performed widely across the country putting her own stamp on modern jazz, vocalising and bringing out the best that the Great American Songbook has to offer. A charismatic performer with a great personality Elaine has an eclectic and wide repertoire and a great sense of musical style in her delivery. A confident band leader and improviser means that you get great interplay amongst the band into the bargain.
The band are accustomed to playing in varied settings and have developed a sensitivity towards reading the audience and have the ability to vary tempo's, volume and intensity accordingly. The musicians hail from the North East of Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow and can be tailored from a duo with voice and guitar to a trio, adding bass right up to a sextet including saxophone or trumpet.
Testimonials
“Elaine performed at our Inkwell Divas jazz series in Chapel Allerton Leeds last year. We think Elaine is one of Scotland's treasures - and a true up and coming jazz vocalist. She has charisma and flair but she has also travelled to study the art of jazz singing with some of the UK's top singers and educators and taken the jazz course at St Andrews - and it shows in her singing style - she can improvise and scat with a passion!”
Steve Crocker, organiser JazzLeeds
"When I first heard Elaine, I was struck by her swinging sound and instrumental approach to improvising. Wonderful choice of material and great stage presence. Musicians love her! "…
