This band are based in Falkirk but regularly play across Scotland.
ShoeString are a high energy ceilidh and covers band with an excellent pedigree. They has been the house ceilidh band at Cameron House Hotel Loch Lomond for Hogmanay occasions as well as Boxing Day at Cameron House. Recent gigs include Great Hall Stirling Castle, Edinburgh Castle, Melville, Airth, Boturich, Glenskirlie, and Plean castles, World Indoor Ceilidh & Folk Festival, City Council organised St Andrews day celebrations at Union Street Gardens, Aberdeen plus a host of wedding and private events. The band are well experienced in ceilidh performance, and when you tire of ceilidh, they change instruments and perform covers, and you would scarcely believe the same band was on stage!
Their caller is one of the best in the business - Gillian Whitelaw, three-times Scottish senior Highland Dancing champion, choreographer and principal of the world renowned Ballochleam Highland Dancers. Gillian has ceilidh called at events all over Europe, USA and in the Far East, and performed for several Hogmanays running in Princes Street, Edinburgh. Gillian is also one of the most succesful teachers of Highland and Scottish dancing, with many champions of her own, British and Scottish. Your guests can be in no safer hands than with Gillian calling. She instils confidence in experienced and brand new ceilidh dancers alike to try out sets and reels they have never heard of before. A few years ago Gillian accompanied the Ballochleam Dancers at the star studded birthday party of Rock star Sting at his mansion in Wiltshire, to dance and demonstrate the ceilidh dances.
Testimonial
"Thanks so much to Shoestring for making Ian and Jackie’s wedding ceilidh such a roaring success. If there are Scottish country dance societies in Texas, I think they will be getting an influx of new members from all those who were ‘converted’ at the wedding.
It was a great night and a joy to work with such a professional outfit.
Many, many thanks"
- Janey Andrews, April 2014 wedding.
