The band are based in London but will travel for events.
Mister Kanish are Andy, Ben, Chris, Ollie and Tim. They offer both a Mumford & Sons-esque / gypsy jazz style and a rocking evening set designed for dancing. They are perfect to cover a whole days entertainment with two different unique styles! They have been playing music together for 7 years
They provide the kind of entertainment that leaves everyone from young kids to senior citizens with huge grins on their faces, feverishly demanding more!!! As 5 friends with so many shared experiences the band have crazy amounts of fun playing together, and their audiences can’t help but feel part of the action.
They've provided the soundtrack to friendships old and new, they've played gentle acoustic sets at 3pm surrounded by serene Welsh hills, played 21st birthday parties where the host has drunkenly demanded an extra set at 3am, and the stage is drenched in booze, played countless first dances, each one a special memory. Those when the bride and groom have secretly rehearsed for weeks, performing majestically as one with the band, leaving everyone astounded – fathers clasping hands and mothers crying tears of joy. Then there’s those when the panick-stricken groom beckons all his mates to join him on stage, just after the intro.
They’ve played Sunday afternoon river cruises on the Thames, flanked by the tranquil Oxfordshire countryside, played Saturday nights in pubs where the revelry is so intense, and so much flesh is visible on the dance floor, that bouncers have had to intervene.
All the while the band plays on. Mister Kanish always deliver, whatever the time or place.
The band offer two types of sound for all weddings and parties.
Style 1 - Contemporary rock and pop - With a lineup of male vocals, dual guitars, bass and drums the band rock through modern and classic dance floor fillers. What you don’t get from Mister Kanish is anything fake – no cheesy strings, no synth brass, and never any pre-recorded backing tracks. What you see is what you get – highly talented musicians using premium level instruments and equipment, covering songs from the 50s to today with their own style and sound. The band know from hundreds of gigs worth of experience that the songs they play will keep any dance floor rammed.
Style 2 - Vintage / Gypsy Jazz Style - Otherwise known as Classic Kanish, this is the bands take on vintage styled wedding entertainment. Imagine if Mumford and Sons played all the best songs by all your favourite artists – that’s Classic Kanish in a nutshell.
Using acoustic guitars, double bass, brushes on the drum kit, with added violin or banjo on certain songs for that little extra something, the band play newly arranged versions of songs by the likes of Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Prince and Plan B. It'll be something you've never heard the likes of before and aren't likely to hear again. The vintage sound can be dancey or more laid back depending on your wants and needs.
Either style is available independently at any event but, what is really unique about Mister Kanish is their ability to offer 2 hours of vintage followed by 2.5 hours of electric!
Testimonials
"You had everyone on their feet non-stop, and everyone commented on what a fantastic performance you gave. I actually fractured my rib two days before the wedding, but I couldn’t stop dancing cos every song was perfect and there was never one I felt I could sit out. I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t get enough, from aged 2 to 82 all of our guests really enjoyed your music and had a fantastic time. I can’t believe you learnt our first dance in less than a week – thank you so much! It was amazing and so much better to have it performed live by you guys.
We’ve already had a couple of friends asking for your details for future events, and we would certainly highly recommend you to anyone we know looking for amazing live music. I hope you enjoyed the evening too, we really had the most fantastic time.
Thank you so much!
Leila and Gareth :)
