Flaming Nora are based in Leith, just north of Edinburgh and mainly play in central Scotland.
Flaming Nora are a top end Ceilidh band who play music for people of all ages to dance to. With a line up of fiddle, whistle/flute, clarinet, harmonium, guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, they have performed at weddings, parties, corporate events, and festivals across the UK over the past 15 years and as well as their standard repertoire of dances they also have a tendency to make up songs on the spot...
Drawing on Scottish, Irish and English dance tunes, they blend a contemporary vibe with traditional roots. They are particularly good at encouraging reluctant dancers to step onto the dance floor. They recently played at a Rugby World Cup match in Newcastle - persuading South African and Scottish fans to do a joint Strip the Willow at St James' Park. For a while they also held the record for the world's largest Eightsome Reel - performed at the Make Poverty History rally in Edinburgh in 2005.
