The band is based in Edinburgh and regularly perform throughout the Central Belt of Scotland but can travel further for events.
Mario Caribé & Boteco Trio plays the best of Brazilian Popular Music which comprises not only Bossa Nova classics as well as several other wonderful and exquisite styles and rhythms from Mario's native country.
Mario is the renowned Brazilian jazz bassist based in Scotland. Over the last ten years he has re-embraced his first original musical role as a singer/rhythm guitarist/cavaquinho player/percussionist and invited Stuart Brown on drums and percussion as well as Brian Molley on Tenor Sax, Soprano Sax, Clarinet and Flute to explore a vast array of music from Brazil.
The result is a trio of multi instrumentalists that grooves seamlessly through dozens of known classics as well as improvise and go full 'batucada' for a real taste of the Brazilian vibe. They play Bossa Nova, Baião, Xote, Samba, Choro and much more not only on the usual Guitar/Reeds/Percussion line up but also Bass/Sax/Drums for a more instrumental take on the repertoire. They can adapt the repertoire from a more gentle touch to a full on vibe. Mario Caribé and Boteco Trio has performed for years every weekend in venues in the central belt as well as Jazz Festivals and private functions.
