The band is based in the West of Scotland and frequently plays across Scotland and Northern England.
Are you looking for a touch of class and a range of music that will meet the expectations of jazz aficionados as well as casual listeners? The Figiro Trio has the experience and talent to provide what will please your guests. Whether it’s music to complement a dinner, catching up with friends in the evening, or just relaxing on a Sunday afternoon, the Figiro Trio can provide the backdrop you need.
Influenced by great female Jazz vocalists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, and Diane Krall, to the up-to-date take on modern songs similar to those arranged by Postmodern Jukebox, the Figiro Trio tries to weave together sets that deliver the highest quality of live musical performance.
The trio includes three talented musicians including:
Fiona Kalin (Fi) - Vocal: began her vocal career with the Renaissance Singers in Belfast who toured the UK ultimately winning the Montreux International Choral Festival in 1986. She applies her vocal talents to a wide range of musical styles including blues, and R&B, but her passion is for jazz and swing.
Gilmour Macleod (Gi) - Piano: studied music at Trinity College of music in London and his diverse talents saw him playing jazz standards across London. He’s equally adept at classical and jazz, having toured England with the Helicon Ensemble (clarinet, cello and piano). Now back in his homeland Scotland, he’s involved with a wide range of musical activities including silent films.
Prof Robert (Ro) - Bass: studied music theory at the State University of New York in the early 1980s and performance on piano, trombone, and percussion. Over the past decade he’s focused mainly on bass guitar, playing blues, jazz, and covers on a range of electric and acoustic instruments.
