This band are based in Glasgow and regularly play across Scotland and the UK, with some overseas shows.
The Swingcats have fast become one of the nation’s finest vocal groups, delivering sassy, swinging three-part harmony to the delight of audiences all over Britain and beyond. They've performed from Dublin to Dubai, Manchester to Marrakech, and by Royal Command for Prince Albert of Monaco in Monte Carlo.
Alyson Orr, Laura Ellis and Nicola Auld have fronted some of the UK's top big bands including The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The BBC Big Band and the RAF Squadronaires, and have also appeared with many international names in jazz including Annie Ross, Carol Kidd, Clare Teal and Martin Taylor. They performed in “We'll Meet Again" with June Whitfield and the London Concert Orchestra, playing venues all over the UK including London's Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
Their success isn't just limited to the stage. So far, The Swingcats have released two albums to huge popular and critical acclaim. Their last recording “Everybody Wants To Be A Cat" was a hit with audiences and radio stations alike. They have often been heard on BBC Radio 2 on "Big Band Special" and "Friday Night Is Music Night”.
The girls have toured the country with several shows including; "Sophisticated Ladies" - a tribute to the female vocalists of the jazz and swing era, "Hold Tight! - A Tribute To The Andrews Sisters”, and “Dancing In The Street” - A tribute to the girl groups of the 1960s. All shows feature unique arrangements from the group’s musical arranger Karen MacIver.
The Swingcats are perfect for openings and launches, corporate nights, concerts, parties and themed events.
