The band is based in Glasgow and frequently play across the whole of Scotland.
Meet Kin: made up of Scottish musicians Matthew Newlands, Eilidh Paterson, Tommy Paterson and Eddie Newlands. The quartet been active on the Scottish/Irish folk scene for 10+ years and as seasoned traditional instrumentalists, each musician has travelled far and wide celebrating their passion for music and culture.
Kin’s set list primarily comprises of pop music covers, with these tasteful traditional inflections traceable throughout. With an extensive, diverse set list, Kin is sure to give any crowd a truly memorable experience, with something to lure everyone onto the dance floor.
Singer-songwriter and talented guitarist, Matthew Newlands, is an incredibly versatile musician. Bringing his own refined style, he covers songs from a huge variety of genres; pop; rock; country; folk; the list goes on. Matthew has a gift for gauging a crowd’s preferences, and ensuring every member of the party has a night to remember.
Eilidh Paterson is a classically trained violinist currently studying music at the University of Edinburgh. With extensive experience in playing Scottish/Irish traditional music, classical music (with the National Youth Senior Orchestra of Scotland, amongst others) as well as jazz, she is an accomplished and adaptable musician, guaranteed to please the crowd with a foot stomping reel.
Self-taught musician Tommy Paterson is an expert mandolin player, whose musical talent and knowledge expands across an array of genres. From his groovy riffs to virtuosic solos, to artistic traditional nuances, Tommy too is a first class musician, with extensive skill many different skills.
Experienced Scottish musician Eddie Newlands is accomplished on both the accordion and keyboard. With excellent versatility, Eddie can have the crowd flying around the dance floor with a traditional ceilidh set, as well as decorate modern covers with funky keyboard solos.
